Student Activities in Spain

The objective of the program is to allow students to earn both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Instituto de Empresa and a MALD -- or a Master of Arts (MA) when applicable -- at Fletcher in two to two and a half years. The dual degree program is intended to prepare students for careers that combine international affairs and management. It is a particularly appropriate program for students who seek management responsibilities in international corporations, global financial institutions, international economic and development institutions, and government agencies. The need for individuals in such positions to have a sophisticated understanding of both international affairs and management issues in an increasingly complex and interdependent world is clear. The unique resources available at both schools can deliver that needed understanding and knowledge.

In addition to the joint degree program with the Instituto de Empressa, Fletcher has a one semester exchange program with IE. Two students from each institution annually spend the fall semester/term of their second year at the other institution as visiting students. 

Tufts in Madrid, run in conjunction with Skidmore College, is designed to increase intercultural agency and understanding, and to achieve inclusive excellence. As a global leader in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice, the program offers courses designed to foster critical thinking, active learning, and the development of intercultural skills and knowledge. All of this is done within the framework of diversity, justice, and human rights. The program also offers a rigorous Global Internship Program with flexible credit options in the fields of community health, women’s advocacy, refugee and immigrant advocacy, international relations, human rights, journalism, diplomacy, education, environmental studies, scientific research, marketing, finance, and more.  Tufts in Madrid was selected by Diversity Abroad as the recipient of the 2022 Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion in International Education Award (EDIIE) for the category of Student Engagement & Support.
