Student Activities in Peru
International Veterinary Medicine Signature Opportunity: Peru
With support from faculty mentors, students develop their own international research projects and either apply for competitive grant funding, or self-fund. This popular program has been a key part of the IVM curriculum since it began in 1982. To date, hundreds of students have successfully carried out research all over the world
Opportunities for students to plan their research begin in the first year. Through IVM Forums, students are introduced to various areas of IVM. There they begin to connect with students who have conducted Summer Research, as well as professionals in the field.

Tufts Civic Semester: Peru
Tufts Civic Semester is a transformational first-semester program that combines academic and experiential learning with a focus on community engagement and social and environmental justice. Based in Urubamba, Peru, participants join a small cohort of 10-12 peers to create a living and learning community which engages deeply with important social issues through Tufts coursework and by supporting and learning from local community organizations. Our Peru program focuses on community health, arts and culture, education, and environment and agriculture. Through both academic coursework and by learning from and supporting local community organizations, students in the program grapple with complex social issues, and connect classroom discussions with hands-on projects.
