Student Activities in Colombia

The engineering “Design Abroad” project was facilitated through a mechanical engineering course (i.e., ME-140: Inventive Design) taught by Professor Trevion Henderson. ME-140: Inventive Design is an elective design course wherein students, who are largely fourth-year engineering undergraduate students and master’s students, engage in community-based partnerships to develop and implement new design solutions. While the 12 teams enrolled in two sections of Inventive Design each engaged different community partners, two teams–one per section–engaged in cross-cultural interactions with partners in Cartagena, Colombia to co-define engineering design projects, co-ideate design solutions and co-prototype their proposed solutions.
