New NAFTA Brings High Risks and Few Rewards

Jeronim Capaldo, a researcher at Tufts’ Global Development and Environment Institute, co-authors this opinion piece analyzing the risks of the revised North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), now called the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA), arguing that it “locks in and even adds to policies that have contributed to rising inequality, stagnant wages, rising health-care costs, environmental degradation and political disaffection.”
