Tufts Bangladesh Conference
April 11th | 11am-6:30pm | Curtis Hall Multipurpose Room
The Tufts Bangladesh Conference is an initiative bringing together students, academics, and professionals to discuss Bangladesh’s evolving political, economic, and environmental landscape. Set for April 11, 2025, this one-day conference will explore key issues such as democratic reform, economic development, and climate resilience.
Bangladesh stands at a historic crossroads following the student-led movement of July 2024, which reshaped the country’s governance. It has garnered significant popular attention, with many referring to it as the “first Gen-Z revolution”. This conference will provide a platform for critical discussions on its future, fostering civic awareness and cross-disciplinary engagement. Through expert panels, guest speakers, and cultural programming, we aim to deepen understanding, inspire action, and build meaningful connections.
Organized by Tufts Bengali Students’ Association, the event will actively involve faculty and student organizations, ensuring broad participation. By engaging scholars, policymakers, and activists, the conference will encourage thoughtful discourse on governance, sustainability, and economic progress. Our esteemed panelists include Dina M Siddiqi, Clinical Professor at New York University, Michael Kugelman, Director of the South Asia Institute at the Wilson Center, Nafisa Nipun Tanjeem, Associate Professor at Worcester State University and others.
