"Modernity's Corruption: Empire and Morality in Historical Perspective"
Why do we think of certain activities as 'corrupt' today, and not others? Using the example of the English East India Trading Company's colonial presence in South Asia from the 18th to the 19th centuries, Wilson argues that what administrators called corrupt was deeply intertwined with their senses of themselves, the audiences of their accusations, and the moral structure of modern life.
